Dialogues on Sustainability, Leadership and Resilience
On Saturday November 28, 2009 the local community in Mococa and Igaraí, SP, Brazil, came out in big numbers together with the owners of five local farms, all bordering the site of our partner Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza - FAF Lot 2, together with local NGO "Grupo Ecológico Olho D'Agua" and Brazil's largest NGO for Preserving the Atlantic Rainforest "SOS Mata Atlântica", to plant 700 trees. This is the beginning of planting the total area of 300 hectares (almost 1,000,000 trees!) made available as a private legal reserve on Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza. Besides planting trees which protect and help restore the five natural springs on this area and recreate habitats for flora and wildlife, a forum for dialogue on sustainability was established in the community and everybody participated actively in Replanting a Rainforest. A wonderful day for the environment and people from not only the local community but also the international community that helped make it happen. Made possible through donations from www.WeForest.com, members of www.OpenWorldCafe.com, sponsors, partners and friends of www.openworldfoundation.org.
