Profile Information

How did you hear about Open World Café?
Jorge Purly told me.
About Me:
Karsten Weitzenegger is a political scientist specialising in international development cooperation. He is an expert on developing participatory organisational changes in the field of social and economic policy. His work has focused on institution building for financial and non-financial business development services, ownership and governance issues, and also investment and export promotion activities or products from developing and transition countries.
About my business:
AGEG Consultants is a consulting company operating world-wide with over 20 years of experience in international development cooperation. In our work in the field, we draw from a well-established network of over 150 highly qualified experts. In collaboration with our clients and local partners, we develop strategies and carry out measures that effectively and sustainably strengthen the economy, health, and cohesion of societies with the goal to improve people's lives.
What I want:
Only broad and sustainable economic growth creates opportunities for employment that can move large sections of the population out of poverty. Organisations that provide poor women and men with access to education and capital are enabling them to contribute toward growth and to benefit from it. Free market access and legal security, as well as modern communication and transport infrastructures, are prerequisites for a good business climate and thus for international competitiveness of developing and transition countries. At the same time, industrial countries can help to overcome world poverty by respecting fair trade conditions and social and ecological standards.
What I´m doing about it:
Working as Project Manager with consulting firms for the EuropeAid Coordination Office, the German development bank KfW and the technical cooperation agency GTZ, he has gained valuable experience in designing, co-ordinating and implementing projects as well as in knowledge management in decentralised organisational structures. In addition, he has provided training to various stakeholders including participants of the pubic sector.
For me, Leadership is . . .
The best of leaders when the job is done, when the task is accomplished, the people will say we have done it ourselves. (Lao Tzu)
For me, Sustainability is . . .
A child of five would understand this. Send someone to fetch a child of five.
For me, Open World Café is . . .
interesting to see.
My contribution to Open World Café is . . .
to be determined.
My Favourite Quote:

My passion is . . .
gerdening.
My greatest fear is . . .
giving up.
