Finance your village

Apart from helping eco-villages with establishment through our project management and facilitating services, we offer financing help.

This is how it works: we invite individuals from all over the world to provide capital so that we can assist the growth of your eco-village by investing this money in your initiative.

We can invest in your initiative by

• buying shares
• building infrastructure like common areas, conference facilities, technical facilities
• lending money

Getting a group together

Maybe you and a few friends have been talking about establishing an eco village somewhere. Or maybe you dream of moving to live close closer together and are looking for others.

We offer a range of seminars and workshops to help you get started. These include:

The diagram below explains how we work when we take on overall responsibility for eco-village establishment.

Prospective villagers form an organisation and create working groups.

Openworldvillages forms a facilitation group to help the villagers self-organise and work on, among other things, defining their needs and finding finance.

At the same time we set up a project organisation to coordinate the work of the various contractors.

One project manger for the overall establishment works closely with a project manager from the villagers association to ensure effective collaboration.

Contractors take in villagers for various parts of the establishment work, like preparing soil or doing simple building work.

Looking for land

We are always interested in finding sites for eco-villages.

If you have land or know of land available. please contact us.

Criteria for land for  eco-village

• Close to existing settlements
• Close to public transport
• Existing buildings or suitable building plots
• Proximity /walking distance of land for food production

The safest investment is one where prospective villages have already signed contracts.  To this end, we plan the project so that building and landscaping work take place after prospective villagers have formed their own association. See below.

The diagram above overviews how we work. After identifying a potential site for an eco-village, and registering it in our registry,  we set about creating two or three alternative layouts and approaches.

Based on our alternatives, we search for potential contractors, financiers and villagers. If we get enough interest among prospective villages, and are able to find cotnractors and finding we proceed to the next step.
