Comment by joao goncalves on July 11, 2012 at 2:12am Thinking about Jean Pain composting experiments: has there been in Sweden research on thermal composting forest shredded prunings to heat green houses and extend the growing season? Why to "force" a raw diet in a place where it is so difficult to adopt, given the ecosystem constraints? At some point importing high quality food will be much more expensive, right?
Comment by Stephen Hinton on July 8, 2012 at 1:01pm Hi Joao - the challenge of raw food in Sweden is a big one. We have a growing season of max. 5 months. The following foods can be grown: hemp, nettles, sunflowerseeds, bluberries, raspberries, strawberries. We are experimenting with raw porridge for breakfast, and seeing that we already have something like 60% able -to- be- produced -in -Sweden products in our diet. But to be 100% without importing is gonna be tough.
Comment by joao goncalves on June 11, 2012 at 10:39am Hi! thanks for the invitation! i'm in Portugal ... what connections will be there between the raw foods and the local ecosystems that produce them? how can we become to have a raw food diet based on Sweden ecosystems?
